The Most Riveting Television Show I’ve Ever Seen

March 7, 2013

Yesterday and last night, as many of you did, I watched Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) conduct a filibuster over the nomination of John Brennan for CIA director.  At first I thought it was a great way to draw attention to a serious issue, drone strikes on American citizens and it was exactly that.  As the day turned into night, I was riveted to my TV specifically CSPAN.  I not only watched but Tweeted my thoughts as many others did and also spent a lot of time researching filibusters, history, how one is conducted and so forth.

What a great night for America and Sen. Rand Paul!  Along with mainly, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) he kept it up for nearly 13 hours.  Being a fan of the old movie “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” I had never really seen one in real time.  It was so amazing to watch and listen to.  I knew that Strom Thurmond held the record for a filibuster and I knew that Sen. Paul could not leave the floor and I kept rooting for him to go on and on and hoped to wake up in the morning to see him still going but he had to stop as the video below shows.

Defeated by the bladder!  No, really, I think Sen. Paul knew that he had made his point and made it well.  President Obama now knows that this will not be as easy as he thought.  The GOP has found a backbone and it’s called: Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.  We have new leaders and I have renewed hope in my party.

On today’s show we are going to play some of the best parts of the filibuster and the weasel Lindsay Graham’s excuse for not taking part.  We also have a slim hope of having Sen. Mike Lee on the show for a few minutes.  I hope you’ll join us.

I want to make it VERY clear.  I am against drones and drone strikes on American citizens on American soil for ANY reason whatsoever.  I #StandWithRand on this issue.  I have heard that other Conservative talk shows have talked that these strikes would be helpful to police and military.  I say “no way”.  We have nearly 13 hours of speaking from the Senate floor yesterday to defend what I just said.  NO WAY!  Not in this Republic!

They left out the part where the applause was drowning out the Senate President from trying to gain order. Great Job Senator Rand Paul!

  • C-SPAN was Must See TV last night! I too was riveted by what unfolded and have the highest respect for Senator Rand Paul and the others who joined him! It is frightening to realize that the question he wanted answered is such a simple one, a “no-brainer” to most Americans, yet the 0bama administration is unable nee, unwilling to give the American people a definitive response.

John McCain quote, “If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids.”
I am an “old” voting Republican, not at all impressionable, and I and many of my peers are now energized and hopeful that the Republican base is back on track!

That is a great tip especially to those new to the blogosphere.
Short but very accurate information… Thank you for sharing this one.
    A must read article!

  • Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the net the simplest thing to be aware of.

I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think about worries
that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
